John has lived in Algonac most of his life and attended the Algonac Church of Christ since he was a kid. He starred in basketball at Algonac High School before going on to play college ball at Michigan Christian College. John is a graduate of Lubbock Christian College and received his Masters from Saginaw Valley. John and his wife, Brenda, have three grown children (Jake, Jacquelyn, and Heidi) and one grandson (Noah).
